What is Biofertilizer?
Biofertilizer is a natural product containing living microorganisms (tiny helpful bacteria, fungi, or algae) that help plants grow better. When applied to seeds, soil, or plants, these microorganisms increase nutrients available to the plants — especially important nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
Biofertilizers are NOT chemicals.
They are natural and eco-friendly and improve soil health without harming the environment.
Examples of common biofertilizers:
Rhizobium (helps legumes like beans, peas fix nitrogen from the air)
Azospirillum (for cereals like rice and wheat)
Azotobacter (for non-legumes)
Mycorrhiza (fungi that help roots absorb phosphorus)
Blue-Green Algae (BGA) (help rice fields)
